“When she wasn't acting, she preferred to wear nothing but a bathrobe and occasionally a bikini.” www.imdb.com
Growing up, some of my fondest memories were watching old movies with my mother, and I’d be remiss if I didn’t credit those years as a large, contributing influence to my photographic aesthetic. I have been fascinated with the life of Marilyn Monroe since we watched “Some Like it Hot”. Every weekend my mother would rent old movies, and we would watch nothing else. I hadn’t a clue that Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers no longer flooded the marquees. Not one of my friends knew about the actresses of old Hollywood, but everyone knew Marilyn.
I have been wanting to create a tribute to Marilyn Monroe for as long as I can remember. I have a fascination with behind the scenes; what the audience doesn’t see. In 2015 I was given the opportunity to photography a model that was able to capture the beauty and vulnerability of Marilyn Monroe, and from this I created the series Legs, Drugs, and Alcohol.
