“Make Believe - the action of pretending or imagining, typically that things are better than they really are.” Oxford Dictionary
I was a sensitive child, and it was make believe that helped me learn to cope with difficult emotions. The Dolls Series was an attempt to examine my own childhood’s emotional playground through the lens of watching my children at play. Through the act of make believe, children are unafraid to express emotions. Creating the Dolls Series was a painful journey into memories I once thought to be forgotten. Make Believe is the image that best represents the innocence within the series. Becoming one of my top selling photos, it has won numerous awards including Jurors Pick Award from the Morris Graves Museum of Art.
